Throwing on the Wheel
Students of all skill levels are welcome. Beginners will learn basic wheel skills such as centering, opening, pulling, and shaping and will start with variations on the basic cylinder, such as mugs, vases, and bowls. More advanced students will work on lidded jars, oval casseroles, closed forms, and, for the adventurous, teapots. Proper trimming, finishing, and glazing techniques will be taught, along with the importance of form with regard to function. Students will have additional studio hours Monday through Friday to work on their pieces. For adults and teens. .
Instructor: Tlatzolkalli
Course time(s): Sundays, 4:00-6:00. Session I: 2/7-3/28 (no class 3/14). Session II: 4/11-5/23

Exploring Ceramics
Come play with clay! Make tumblers, mugs, bowls, plates, lidded boxes, and large jars. Through these projects we will investigate many ways of working with clay, including pinch, coil and slab work. Potters have been using these hand-building techniques for thousands of years. They are easy for beginners to learn, yet are still in use by the masters. All skill levels and ages are welcome. This is a family friendly class: children 12 and under are welcome at half price ($115) when accompanied by an enrolled parent (one child per adult).
